About The Position

The Volunteer & Fundraising Coordinator is responsible for coordinating the volunteer program, supporting fundraising efforts and participating in communication and outreach strategies for our nonprofit public libraries. This position splits time between both libraries, with the option to work from home one day per week, and reports to the Executive Director. Pre-employment background check is required.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of library volunteer engagement and fundraising strategies.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently, set priorities, manage multiple projects, exercise initiative, and meet deadlines with little supervision.
  • Excellent supervisory and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient with technology including Microsoft Office, donor and volunteer tracking tools, and standard library and office equipment.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills with the ability to connect with diverse individuals and communities.
  • Ability to read, write and understand English.
  • Bachelor’s degree in related field preferred.
  • Three years of recent and relevant experience.
  • Or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates all aspects of the volunteer program including recruiting, training, and supervising library volunteers in daily circulation tasks such as materials shelving, as well as occasional program and fundraising support.
  • Regularly communicates with volunteers and coordinates volunteer recognition and appreciation events and activities.
  • Maintains volunteer program guidelines, procedures, applications, and data related to the volunteer program.
  • Exhibits excellent customer service with patrons. Shows courtesy, compassion and respect with all interactions with the public and library staff.
  • Assists patrons at the public desk, performing circulation tasks, reference and readers’ advisory, and technology and equipment support in a concise and courteous manner.
  • Assists the Executive Director, Board of Directors, Fundraising Committee, and other stakeholders with fundraising activities and plans.
  • Prepares grant applications, tracks grants received, and participates in grant reporting.
  • Manages donor database, updates and maintains donor records, records donations received, produces donor gift acknowledgement and communication, and creates reports.
  • Participates in communication and marketing efforts including social media posts, monthly newsletters, website updates, and print materials.
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
  • Recruits, interviews, screens, trains, and supervises (or assigns) library volunteers.
  • Provides volunteers feedback, correction, guidance, and development as needed and in accordance with policy.
