About The Position

Tim Welch Vocal Studio is seeking a passionate and skilled Voice Instructor to teach singers of all ages and skill levels in an artist-focused studio environment. The instructor provides private lessons at the studio in South Orange, New Jersey, and online via Zoom. The role involves tailoring instruction to students’ goals, developing vocal technique and performance skills, guiding repertoire choices, tracking progress, and preparing students for auditions and performances. Flexible work-from-home options are available.

Requirements

Degree in Music, Vocal Performance, Music Education, or equivalent professional experience.
Demonstrated experience teaching private voice lessons to students of all ages.
Strong knowledge of vocal pedagogy, music theory, and sight-reading.
Excellent communication, patience, and interpersonal skills.
Reliable, punctual, and self-motivated, with strong organizational habits.
Ability to work afternoons, evenings, and/or weekends as needed.

Nice To Haves

Proficiency in multiple genres, such as classical, musical theatre, and pop.

Responsibilities

Provide one-on-one private voice lessons to students of varying ages and skill levels at the studio and online via Zoom.
Develop personalized lesson plans tailored to each student's vocal goals and abilities.
Teach proper vocal technique, breath support, tone production, and performance skills.
Guide students through repertoire selection across a variety of musical genres.
Track student progress and provide constructive, encouraging feedback.
Prepare students for auditions, recitals, competitions, and performances.
Maintain a positive, professional, and motivating studio atmosphere.
