About The Position

Catholic Charities is seeking a Vocational Training Case Manager to join their family-friendly organization serving the Houston-Galveston area. This role is part of the Refugee Resettlement program, which helps government-approved refugees become self-sufficient through cultural orientation, job development, family reunification, and resettlement. The Vocational Training Case Manager will educate, enroll, and follow up with students interested in the Vocational Training Program, and provide support to the employment team. Responsibilities include conducting employment intakes and assessments, data entry, maintaining case notes, and assisting refugee clients in acquiring jobs to achieve self-sufficiency. The ideal candidate will be able to handle confidential information, work in a diverse setting, and demonstrate enthusiasm and commitment to working with the refugee community.

Requirements

  • Associate’s Degree
  • Valid Texas Driver’s License
  • Bilingual
  • Knowledge of college programs of study, admissions, registration, financial aid, counseling processes, and community resources
  • Ability to work independently
  • Strong sense of accountability for both client achievement and personal development
  • Ability to handle and maintain confidential information
  • Demonstrates success working with a variety of people
  • Knowledge and experience with Word and Excel

Responsibilities

  • Provides intake assessment for each client interested in vocational training.
  • Maintains communication with service providers including local colleges and transcript evaluators.
  • Provides group and individual intensive job readiness orientations that provide clients with the basic skills required to enhance their employability.
  • Determines specific employment opportunities appropriate to clients and assists clients with accessing employment opportunities by guiding them through the hiring process.
  • Schedules interviews for clients, assists with application, interview process and assesses status of clients after job placement for 30/60/90 days.
  • Provides translation services and transportation assistance for clients as required for securing a job.
  • Verifies enrollment into Refugee Management Solution and Client track.
  • Verifies job referrals and job placements into Client Track.
  • Maintains client files, ensuring completeness and accuracy of file documentation including compliance with funding requirements.
  • Assists with completion of quarterly reports by providing required data.
  • Attends meetings with other service providers, participates in staff retreats, United Way tours, agency fairs and speaking engagements; assists with special organizational project/events and other duties as assigned.
