About The Position

Via Linda Behavioral Hospital is an innovative behavioral health hospital serving Scottsdale and the greater Phoenix, Arizona metro area. Its 120-bed facility offers specialized mental health services and substance use treatment for teens, adults, and older adults. The VOB Specialist verifies benefits and eligibility for admission inquiries, prepares financial folders, and ensures demographic and patient information is accurate in MS4. The role also supports patient payments and financial arrangements, coordinates with utilization review and discharge planning to limit non-payment risk, and assists with physician billing by checking codes and auditing billing sheets against daily progress notes.

Requirements

• High school graduate or equivalent required.
• A minimum of one year of experience in admission processes and collections procedures.
• A minimum of one year of experience in data entry.
• Proficiency in 10-key and typing.
• AHCCCS certification for member benefit enrollment.
• May be required to work occasional overtime and flexible hours.

Nice To Haves

• Working knowledge of managed care.
• Working knowledge of interpreting insurance coverage plans, co-payments, deductible schedules, and payment plans.
• Working knowledge of computers and business software programs, including Excel and Word.

Responsibilities

• Verify benefits and eligibility for admission inquiries.
• Prepare financial folders and ensure demographics and patient information are correct in MS4.
• Collect patient co-pays and deductibles and collect insurance payments.
• Assist in establishing effective and timely payment plans.
• Coordinate with utilization review and discharge planning efforts to limit risk of non-payment.
• Provide ongoing patient benefit information.
• Participate in patient discharge procedures.
• Coordinate financial arrangements with collecting personnel.
• Assist with physicians billing and check that all codes are checked.
• Audit physicians' billing sheets against patients' progress notes for each day.
• Print face sheets and scan them to the third-party billing company.
