About The Position

DreamWorks Animation is seeking adventurous and driven individuals for their Fall 2026 Visual Development Internship. This program offers students and recent graduates hands-on experience in a production environment, working alongside creative leaders and artists on TV and Feature animated projects. Interns will gain experience in visual development, from concept to final designs, by pulling reference, crafting mood boards, and designing sets, props, and color keys. The program emphasizes a collaborative and inclusive culture, providing opportunities for professional and artistic development through executive speaker series, workshops, classes, and screenings. This is an opportunity to contribute to the creation of immersive new worlds and compelling stories that DreamWorks Animation is known for.

Requirements

  • Strong skills in Photoshop.
  • Pursuing an Associate, Bachelor or Graduate degree at a College/University (or equivalent), or be a recent graduate (within six months of graduation date).
  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Must be willing to work in Glendale, California.
  • Ability to provide own relocation, housing and transportation.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States without visa sponsorship.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with 3D tools (Maya, Blender, ZBrush) preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Imagine and propose ideas for the visual look of animated worlds based on story, characters, and action.
  • Use reference, illustration, drawing, and design skills, along with animation and 3D tools like Maya, to build visuals that convey ideas about the world's look.
  • Work through concept designs to final designs by pulling reference, crafting mood boards, and designing sets, props, color keys, and more.
  • Ask questions, clarify notes, and ensure designs are completed per feedback provided.
  • Ensure deadlines are consistently met.
  • Communicate progress of work to supervisors and appropriate production staff.
