About The Position

Minnesota Children’s Museum’s mission is sparking children’s learning through play. We believe that diversity, equity, and inclusion is integral to fulfilling our mission. As a community resource for thousands of families, Minnesota Children’s Museum is dedicated to providing children with a fun, hands-on and stimulating environment to explore and discover. The Galleries Visitor Assistant is responsible for providing excellent customer service to all museum visitors and monitoring and maintaining museum exhibits and props. The schedule requires availability for weekdays (occasional Mondays), every other Friday evening, and every other weekend rotation, with shifts scheduled between 8:30 AM and 8:30 PM. Some evening shifts throughout the month will also be required, as well as availability on federal holidays when the museum is open. The position requires between 12-20 hours of availability per week.

Requirements

• One year of customer service experience.
• Experience working or volunteering with children in an educational or recreational setting.
• Demonstrated ability to work well with adults and children.
• Ability to express ideas clearly and present information effectively to visitors in a crowded setting.
• Ability to communicate with front of house staff effectively using radio.
• Ability to work independently and with a team to make sound customer service decisions in complex situations.

Responsibilities

• Provide excellent customer service to all visitors while maintaining a safe environment.
• Ensure exhibits are ready for visitor use.
• Support visitor operations and needs through the museum including the outdoor spaces like the terrace and backyard.
• Support division initiatives including service, education, and sales programs.
• Attend and participate in daily opening meetings, department meetings, trainings, and other meetings as scheduled.
