Visiting Scholar (Contractual) - MCMCO
About The Position
The International Monetary Fund (IMF) is seeking a Visiting Scholar to assist the Monetary and Capital Markets Department (MCMCO) in developing an approach for reviewing Monetary Policy Implementation Frameworks (MPIFs) applicable to both interest rate and quantity-based operational targets. The role also involves laying the groundwork for counterparty eligibility criteria, with a focus on payment system providers. The expected outputs include a technical assistance handbook chapter on MPIF reviews, covering conceptual framework, questionnaire, and grading methodology, developed collaboratively with headquarters staff and LTX. Additionally, the Visiting Scholar will contribute to a departmental paper on “Widening Access to Payment Systems” by reviewing and commenting on the paper, which will help establish the basis for a future handbook chapter on counterparty eligibility criteria.
Requirements
- Experience in Monetary Policy Implementation Frameworks (MPIFs).
- Understanding of interest rate and quantity-based operational targets.
- Knowledge of counterparty eligibility criteria, particularly for payment system providers.
- Ability to review and comment on departmental papers.
- Collaborative work style.
Responsibilities
- Assist MCMCO in developing an approach for reviewing Monetary Policy Implementation Frameworks (MPIFs) that can be applied under either interest rate or quantity-based operational targets.
- Assist MCMCO in developing the groundwork for counterparty eligibility criteria, with particular emphasis on payment system providers.
- Develop a technical assistance handbook chapter on reviews of Monetary Policy Implementation Frameworks (MPIFs), covering the conceptual framework, questionnaire, and grading methodology.
- Review and provide comments on the departmental paper on “Widening Access to Payment Systems.”
