The International Monetary Fund (IMF) is seeking a Visiting Scholar for a contractual position within the Monetary and Capital Markets Department (MCMDM). This role will focus on three key projects: updating the Framework on Development of the Government Local Currency Bond Market, analyzing sovereign debt restructuring and engagement with private creditors to restore market access, and developing guidelines for the Public Debt Management Governance Framework. The Visiting Scholar will work closely with dedicated staff, consult with and report to the Division Chief and designated staff on project deliverables. The IMF faces a growing workload of technical assistance in low- and middle-income countries, requiring updates to existing frameworks and a deeper understanding of sovereign debt restructuring issues, particularly the role of private sector involvement in regaining market access. This short-term hire is essential to ensure the timely and comprehensive undertaking of these framework-updating initiatives and to provide effective advice to member countries.
