About The Position

The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry is seeking a 9-Month, non-tenure earning, Visiting Laboratory Lecturer of Chemistry. Position responsibilities include a 5/5 teaching load or its equivalent, and service to the department, college, and university. Teach introductory and general chemistry laboratory courses, as well as laboratory courses in modern analytical, biochemistry, physical, and/or organic chemistry, dependent on candidate experience. Prepare chemicals and equipment to ensure laboratory spaces are properly maintained and ready for instructional use. Collaborate with the Laboratory Manager and Laboratory Technician to provide laboratory support each term. Determine supplies and consumables to be ordered to support instructional laboratory activities. This position will report to the Department Chair. The position is expected to begin on August 3, 2026. The Department of Chemistry & Biochemistry at UNF offers Chemistry baccalaureate degrees with concentrations in General Chemistry, Pre-medical Professions, and Materials Science, as well as a Biochemistry baccalaureate degree. Master’s degrees are offered in Materials Science and Biomedical Sciences, with additional programs under development related to drug discovery and health research. This role is a temporary appointment for a stated term or time period and may be full‑time or part‑time. A graduate degree in the specified or a closely related discipline is required. The normal teaching load for this appointment is four courses per semester. This position requires a background check. In conjunction with the University's policy, this position may also require a credit check. The holder of this position is designated as a “Responsible Employee” pursuant to their role under Title IX. Therefore, the incumbent must promptly report allegations of sexual misconduct, sexual violence, and child sexual abuse by or against any student, employee, contractor, or visitor to the University’s Title IX Administrator or any divisional Title IX Coordinator

Requirements

  • A master's degree from an accredited institution in the field of instruction or a closely related discipline at the time of hire.
  • Demonstrated effectiveness in teaching.
  • Strong oral communication skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous, documented experience in teaching undergraduate chemistry laboratory courses.
  • Demonstrated commitment and capability to provide an excellent learning environment, apply student-centered instructional methods, and contribute to the development and implementation of curricular content.
  • Completion of most or all requirements for a doctorate or equivalent terminal degree.
  • Experience teaching undergraduate laboratory courses.
  • Experience with online instruction and curriculum development initiatives.
