About The Position

Sacred Heart University, a leading private doctoral institution, seeks a full-time, non-tenure-track Visiting Assistant Teaching Professor with deep expertise in branding and brand management for its Jack Welch College of Business & Technology. This is a teaching-focused role for both undergraduate and graduate marketing courses, emphasizing brand strategy, management, and applied practice. The ideal candidate is a practitioner-scholar who has built and managed brands within leading consumer-facing organizations and is passionate about translating this real-world experience into the classroom. The role requires a hands-on approach to student mentorship, emphasizing approachability, presence, and investment in each student's academic and professional journey with patience and compassion. This position is for someone who views teaching and mentorship as inseparable and is dedicated to shaping the next generation of brand marketers.

Requirements

  • Master's degree (MBA or equivalent) in Marketing, Business, or a closely related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of hands-on, in-house brand management experience gained at a leading, brand-driven consumer organization (e.g., Procter & Gamble, Unilever, or comparable companies).
  • Minimum of 5 years of consulting experience in branding or strategic brand management.
  • Prior teaching experience in higher education (adjunct, visiting, or full-time faculty appointment).
  • Demonstrated ability to translate real-world branding experience into engaging, applied classroom instruction.
  • A genuine, demonstrated commitment to hands-on student mentorship and advising, marked by patience, empathy, and compassion.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Doctoral degree (PhD, DBA, or equivalent terminal degree) in Marketing or a related field.
  • Corporate training or executive-education teaching experience.
  • Experience teaching or mentoring at both the undergraduate and graduate levels.
  • Familiarity with digital and data-driven branding practices (brand analytics, social/digital brand strategy, etc.).
  • A track record of thought leadership, such as industry speaking engagements, publications, or professional certifications.

Responsibilities

  • Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in marketing, with a core focus on branding and brand management, following the college's standard teaching load for full-time visiting faculty.
  • Design and deliver applied, practice-based coursework — case studies, brand audits, live-client or capstone projects — that draws directly on real brand-management experience.
  • Advise and mentor students on coursework, projects, and career planning with a hands-on, compassionate approach, including regular office hours and informal availability to students.
  • Support experiential learning activities such as case competitions, internships, and industry guest engagements connecting students to the branding and consumer marketing world.
  • Contribute to curriculum development and continuous improvement of the marketing program's branding-related course offerings.
  • Participate in department and college activities, including assessment, meetings, and service appropriate to a visiting faculty appointment.

Benefits
