About The Position

The Department of Psychology at Butler University invites applications for a one-semester, non-tenure track visiting assistant professor position beginning January 2027. This role requires full-time, in-person instruction and a Ph.D. in Psychology (or a closely related field) at the time of appointment. The successful applicant will be broadly trained in applied psychology and ready to teach in a multidisciplinary university core curriculum. The standard teaching load is 4 courses (12 credit hours) per semester. The department seeks a colleague who will be ready to teach required psychology courses such as Introductory Psychology, Research Methods & Statistics, as well as content courses in their area of expertise. The ideal candidate will have a demonstrated commitment to evidence-based and engaged-learning pedagogies and to building an inclusive classroom environment for an increasingly diverse student body. Requirements

  • Ph.D. in Psychology (or a closely related field) at the time of appointment.
  • Broad training in applied psychology.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience teaching content courses in areas such as developmental, industrial-organizational, health, clinical, cross-cultural, or sports psychology.
