About The Position

The University of Wisconsin-Superior is hiring a Visiting Assistant Professor of Psychology to begin January 10, 2027, or August 23, 2027. Psychology is an undergraduate program at the University of Wisconsin-Superior, Wisconsin’s public liberal arts college. The Psychology major/minor are offered both online and on campus. A strong commitment to undergraduate teaching is essential. Preferred candidates will be able to effectively teach a variety of courses which may include some selection of Introduction to Psychology, courses in cognitive or social psychology, and/or statistics. Psychology is part of the Department of Human Behavior, Justice and Diversity, with members in Psychology, Legal Studies/Criminal Justice, Social Work, and Indigenous Studies, and therefore encourages applications from diverse backgrounds. Requirements

Ph.D. in Psychology; an ABD in Psychology will be considered with an earned doctorate required prior to start date
Willingness to engage in course design and teach in multiple modalities
University-level teaching (or teaching assistant) experience
Candidates must be independently, legally authorized to work in the United States at the time of hire and maintain their work authorization without the support or help of UW-Superior throughout employment.

Responsibilities

Teach 12 credits per semester (including a mix of on-campus and online courses)
Engage in professional development related to teaching and learning.
Collaborate in curricular development in the psychology program.
Engage in the program’s High Impact Practices (such as Academic Service-Learning) if assigned to courses containing those components.
Engage in program service activities such as assessment, scheduling, marketing, recruitment and retention, community partner outreach and recruitment, and other program related support as designated by the program.
Participate in Department business and engage in limited Department service as needed.
Complete required trainings and professional development as assigned.
Other duties as assigned.
