About The Position

The Department of Psychology at Oklahoma State University seeks applications for two Visiting Assistant Professors of Psychology with a start date of August 2026. This is a temporary, non-tenure-track, 9-month position. Preference will be given to candidates who can teach in-person courses on the Stillwater, OK campus; however, applicants able to teach online courses remotely will also be considered. The successful candidates will teach four courses per semester in psychology with specific course assignments based on departmental needs and the candidate’s expertise. We are particularly interested in candidates who can teach courses such as Psychology of Adjustment, Human Sexuality, Principles of Learning, Psychology of Mass Media, Psychopathology, Issues in Clinical Psychology, Research Methods, and Statistics. The position is focused primarily on high-quality undergraduate instruction. The successful candidates will be expected to contribute to departmental instructional needs, maintain regular office hours, participate in routine departmental activities related to teaching, and work collaboratively with faculty and staff to support student success. About the Department of Psychology The Department of Psychology at Oklahoma State University is committed to research, teaching, and outreach. The Department currently houses 22 tenured/tenure-track and 11 career-track full time faculty and offers undergraduate programs in Psychology and Graduate programs in Clinical and Experimental Psychology. The Clinical Program, continuously APA-accredited since 1971 and PCSAS-accredited since 2018, is based on a clinical science model of training, and has subspecialties in Adult Psychopathology, Child Clinical, Health, and Pediatric Psychology. The Experimental Program has concentrations in Developmental, Comparative-Neurobiological, Cognitive, and Social-Personality Psychology. The Department oversees and supports a large student body of approximately 50 doctoral students and 1300 undergraduate majors. Requirements

  • PhD in Psychology or a closely related field by the start date (ABDs considered)
  • Evidence of successful teaching at the college or university level
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively mentor and collaborate with students and colleagues
