About The Position

The Chemical and Physical Sciences Department at MSSU is currently seeking candidates for a one-semester, non-tenure track Visiting Assistant Professor Position in Physics starting August 2026 in Joplin, Missouri. Successful candidates should be prepared to teach physics I, physical science, and possibly other physics courses. The position requires demonstrated commitment to teaching excellence and advising at the undergraduate level.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated commitment to teaching excellence and advising at the undergraduate level.
  • Master's degree or Ph.D. in Physics, or a related field is preferred; however, candidates who are ABD will be considered.
  • Provide a detailed letter of application.
  • Provide curriculum vitae.
  • Provide copies of undergraduate and graduate transcripts.
  • Provide the names and contact information of three professional references.
  • Official transcripts are required 45 days after the contract is issued.
  • Employment is contingent upon a background check.

Responsibilities

  • Teach physics I, physical science, and possibly other physics courses.
  • Provide advising at the undergraduate level.
