The University of Wyoming Department of Visual Arts is seeking a full-time, benefited, one-year renewable contract Visiting Assistant Professor of Art Education and Foundations. This role requires the ability to teach a comprehensive range of Art Education classes, including Methods I, Methods II, Art Education Practicum, Curriculum Design, and potentially Elementary and Secondary Residency courses. The successful candidate will also teach in a secondary area such as 2D, Color Theory, 3D Foundations, or other studio areas of expertise. The position demands experience in K-12 teaching, university-level Art Education curriculum instruction, familiarity with various Art Education pedagogies and philosophies, established scholarly and/or creative research, and proficiency with media used in Art Education. Desired skills include strong communication abilities (oral, written, digital), experience in collaborative educational teams, experience working with diverse student populations (non-traditional, first-generation, students with disabilities), and involvement in professional organizations. The role involves incorporating equitable classroom policies, promoting diverse viewpoints, and utilizing multiple teaching modalities (in-person, online, hybrid). The Art Education Program at UW is the sole four-year program in the state, preparing students for K-12 art teacher licensure. The Visual Arts Building, a LEED Certified facility, provides an individual office and faculty studio space. The University and Department are accredited by NASAD.
