About The Position

The UNT Dallas College of Law is seeking experienced lawyers, judges, and law school instructors to serve as Visiting Assistant Professors of Law for the 2026-2027 academic year. This role involves teaching twelve credit hours, specifically the required courses of Interviewing and Counseling, and Negotiations and Conflict Resolution. Responsibilities include teaching students, conducting practice workshops, and supervising adjunct faculty assistants. The position is part of the UNT Dallas Classroom to Career initiative, which integrates experiential learning into the academic journey to prepare students for workforce readiness. Faculty are expected to adhere to the College of Law's instructional and curricular practices, including the use of the Canvas Learning Management System, learning outcomes, multiple assessments, and research and writing modules, with support provided by the college.

Requirements

  • J.D. degree.
  • Superb academic and professional qualifications.
  • Five or more years of practice experience that is sufficiently extensive and high quality to be a foundation for teaching in the College of Law’s educational program.
  • Demonstrated ability to achieve excellence in teaching and in guiding and mentoring as to professional formation of students.
  • Commitment to the goals of the College of Law and its curricular and instructional methods and goals.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form.
  • Skill in editing documents for correct grammar
  • Ability to maintain effective interpersonal relationships.

Responsibilities

  • Teach twelve credit hours for the 2026-2027 academic year.
  • Develop and deliver engaging and effective legal writing courses to the student population.
  • Evaluate student work, provide constructive feedback and grade assignments.
  • Create and implement innovative teaching methods to enhance student learning and engagement.
  • Collaborate with colleagues and departmental staff to ensure the success of the legal writing program.
  • Supervise adjunct faculty assistants assigned to lead workshops.
