About The Position

The Virtual ARD Facilitator coordinates and facilitates the Admission, Review, and Dismissal (ARD) process to ensure that Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) are developed, implemented, and documented in accordance with federal and state special education regulations. This role works closely with special education teachers, administrators, related service providers, and families to ensure that ARD meetings are conducted effectively and that required timelines and documentation requirements are met. Please note – while this is an online school position and ARD meetings are typically conducted virtually, travel and face-to-face attendance may be required several times per year to support in-person state testing and student events. Requirements

  • Current Texas certification in Special Education or a related field (e.g., Educational Diagnostician, LSSP, Speech-Language Pathologist, or Special Education Teacher)
  • Minimum of three years of experience working with students with disabilities required
  • Strong knowledge of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), ARD/IEP processes, and special education compliance requirements
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills that reflect professionalism and tact at all times
  • Ability to effectively facilitate meetings and support collaborative problem solving among diverse stakeholders
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple timelines and priorities
  • Genuine care for children and a commitment to ensuring equitable access to education for students with disabilities
  • Proficiency in computer applications including Google Docs, MS Office Suite, e-mail, and internet applications
  • Ability to learn new technologies and acquire new skills through independent study, professional training, and collaboration with colleagues
  • Ability to handle confidential information responsibly and exercise sound professional judgment
  • Ability to and willingness to work occasional evenings for ARD meetings
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to perform occasional local and in-state travel
  • Ability to pass federal, state, and local background checks

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s Degree preferred
  • Prior experience facilitating ARD meetings or coordinating special education services preferred
  • Prior experience with software and databases used to maintain Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) compliance, including SameGoal, preferred

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and schedule Admission, Review, and Dismissal (ARD) meetings, including annual, initial, reevaluation, manifestation determination, transfer, and amendment meetings
  • Facilitate ARD meetings to ensure compliance with federal and state regulations and to support collaborative decision-making among committee members
  • Ensure required ARD committee members are invited and present, and that parents receive proper notification within required timelines
  • Guide ARD committees through the IEP development process while maintaining neutrality and a student-centered focus
  • Ensure ARD documentation is completed accurately and finalized in accordance with applicable timelines
  • Review IEP documents to ensure required components are included, such as Present Levels of Academic Achievement and Functional Performance (PLAAFPs), measurable goals, accommodations, services, and transition plans when applicable
  • Collaborate with special education teachers, administrators, evaluators, and related service providers to ensure student needs are appropriately addressed during ARD meetings
  • Support the implementation of ARD committee decisions and ensure relevant staff members have access to finalized IEP documents
  • Assist with monitoring compliance with federal, state, and local special education requirements
  • Respond to parent and staff requests for ARD meetings and provide guidance regarding ARD procedures and special education processes
  • Maintain accurate and confidential student records in accordance with IDEA and applicable privacy laws
  • Support communication between general education teachers, special education teachers, service providers, and administrators regarding ARD decisions and student services
  • Assist with the review of transfer student records to ensure appropriate services are provided upon enrollment
  • Maintain knowledge of applicable special education laws, policies, and procedures
  • Participate in professional development and team meetings as assigned
  • Maintain confidentiality concerning all student information and any professional matters
