About The Position

Associated Students, Inc. (ASI) is a non-profit corporation guided by a student board and managed by full-time professional staff. ASI is considered a part of the Cal Poly Pomona Division of Student Affairs. ASI serves over 27,000 students by providing opportunities for student engagement, employment, and a multitude of programs and services. ASI operational support areas include human resources, financial services, information technology, facilities management, and marketing. ASI is looking for dynamic team members who value team learning, co-creation, and adaptability. The award-winning Marketing, Design & Public Relations (MDPR) group maintains its creativity and dynamic marketing strategies through an experienced, talented team of students and professional staff, utilizing cutting-edge technology to connect clients to their audiences with fresh and innovative solutions. MDPR serves ASI's internal marketing needs and provides the campus and local community with design and marketing communications services.

Requirements

  • 3- 6 months of leadership experience required
  • 1-year videography and video editing experience required
  • Experience using Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, Adobe After Effects, or other video editing software, required
  • Experience with video production equipment and techniques, including but not limited to, professional grade digital cameras, audio recording, graphics, color correction/grading, lighting, set-up for multi-camera productions, required
  • Demonstrated creative ability as shown through a submitted portfolio of creative work
  • Ability to lead, mentor, and provide constructive critique
  • Self-motivated with strong organization and critical thinking skills
  • Ability to work in a cross-platform environment (Mac and PC)
  • Ability to operate a computer workstation using word processing, spreadsheet and other computer applications in use
  • Desire to learn about marketing, advertising and corporate communications
  • Ability to follow routine verbal and written instructions
  • Ability to effectively communicate clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing
  • Ability to maintain professional work conduct
  • Ability to make independent decisions and make recommendations

  • Must be a Cal Poly Pomona student currently enrolled in a minimum of 6.0 units (undergraduate) and 4.0 units (graduate) or 12.0 units (undergraduate) and 6.0 units (graduate) for international students, at the end of the add-drop period.
  • Must have a minimum overall and Cal Poly Pomona GPA of 2.0 and be in good academic standing with the University.
  • Must be available to work fall, winter, spring, and summer semesters, some nights and weekends.

Nice To Haves

  • Understanding of Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Photoshop, preferred
  • Experience in graphic design, preferred

Responsibilities

  • Provides project oversight, feedback, mentorship, training, and supervision of Videographer staff.
  • Supports the Digital Media Manager in project development and production.
  • Performs routine and non-routine tasks requiring specialized knowledge, prior relevant experience, and considerable independent judgment and decision-making to assist with advertising campaigns and facilitating marketing initiatives.
  • Creates dynamic short-form and long-form animations and video content for use on various marketing platforms.
  • Assists the Digital Media Manager with the management of student staff.
  • Runs Videographer Team meetings, as needed.
  • Assists the Digital Media Manager with approval of the team’s timecards and schedules.
  • Plans videos, schedules video shoots, storyboards content, and coordinates with subjects.
  • Sets timelines, determines desired video composition, performs interviews, and adjusts content to achieve desired effect.
  • Brainstorms and executes videos that elevate the ASI brand.
  • Films, edits, and captions videos for marketing campaigns, YouTube, Instagram Reels, IGTVs, organizational trainings, etc.
  • Assists in creating content and promotional materials in a timely manner and in collaboration with the marketing staff.
  • Attends in-person/on-campus events to capture footage for use in video projects.
  • Operates video equipment and makes technical decisions regarding appropriate lighting, composition, audio, etc.
  • Captures high-quality, candid/action video and maintains a library of b-roll.
  • Maintains ASI video management accounts and keeps video files organized.
  • Ensures videos maintain ATI compliance, including but not limited to, proper captioning, color contrast, etc.
  • Assists in the development and administration of marketing campaign strategies.
  • Provides administrative support as needed.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
