About The Position

The Victim/Witness Specialist provides support and guidance to victims and witnesses throughout the prosecutorial phase of the criminal justice system. The position works in the felony unit and supports Deputy District Attorneys in completing cases on the daily court docket. The specialist serves as a liaison between victims and witnesses, prosecutors, and other law enforcement personnel; coordinates trials; explains case-related processes to victims and witnesses; and arranges services intended to promote emotional healing. Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned.

Requirements

Minimum of one year of work experience.
For positions requiring driving on County business, obtain a valid Colorado driver’s license within 30 days of hire.
Successfully complete required pre-employment screening, which may include criminal history, motor vehicle report, education verification, and/or references.
Successfully complete required CJIS background screening, including fingerprinting, and required CJIS security training; continued employment and authorized access to applicable criminal justice information or systems may depend on maintaining these requirements.

Responsibilities

Provide support and guidance to victims and witnesses through the prosecutorial phase of the criminal justice system.
Act as a liaison between victims and/or witnesses, prosecutors, and other law enforcement personnel.
Handle trial coordination.
Educate victims and witnesses about the various processes involved with their cases.
Support Deputy District Attorneys in completing court cases on the daily court docket.
Arrange services to promote emotional healing.
Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
