About The Position

Oklo is hiring a Vice President of Strategy to build and lead its corporate Strategy function. Reporting to the Chief Strategy Officer, this senior leader will shape enterprise strategy, lead the Strategy team, and guide consequential company decisions from early thesis development through executive decision, execution, and handoff. The role is expected to identify emerging opportunities and risks, develop independent recommendations, set the function’s agenda and standards, and direct Strategy resources toward the company’s highest-priority questions and initiatives. The Vice President will work directly with the founders, CFO, business-unit leaders, and other functions. The role is accountable for the quality of company-level strategy, the effectiveness of the Strategy function, and the impact of the initiatives it leads. It includes leading long-range strategy and planning, advising executive leadership and the Board, supporting major corporate choices, overseeing strategic initiatives, and personally leading selected high-stakes work. The position may involve access to information subject to U.S. export control laws. Only applicants who meet the applicable legal definition of a U.S. person may be eligible. Employment may be contingent upon successful completion of drug screening, and employees may be subject to drug testing in accordance with company policy and applicable laws. Significant travel for executive working sessions, team collaboration, and selected engagements may be required. Remote employees must travel to the Santa Clara, California headquarters twice per quarter based on business or team needs. Employees are also required to be at headquarters in person for the first two weeks of onboarding.

Requirements

Substantial senior leadership experience leading corporate strategy, general management, business building, or a comparable enterprise mandate, with a record of shaping company direction and driving implementation.
Demonstrated success building high-performing teams, setting an agenda, developing talent, managing performance, and delivering results through others.
Experience advising founders, senior executives, or Boards on consequential choices and creating alignment around difficult decisions.
Strong commercial and financial judgment across business models, partnerships, capital requirements, growth opportunities, portfolio choices, and resource tradeoffs.
A record of leading complex initiatives across functions and business units without relying solely on direct reporting authority.
Excellent writing, synthesis, and executive communication skills, with credibility to challenge assumptions and represent the company with senior counterparties.

Nice To Haves

Experience building a Strategy function or leading strategy across multiple businesses in a growing, capital-intensive, or regulated company.
Experience with industrial or technology partnerships, capital formation, international initiatives, acquisitions, or new ventures.
Experience leading executive and Board strategy work and establishing effective company planning and accountability processes.

Responsibilities

Build and lead the corporate Strategy function, including designing its operating model, hiring and developing talent, managing performance, allocating resources, and owning team standards, quality, and results.
Lead the development and refinement of Oklo’s long-range enterprise strategy, including portfolio choices, priority markets, business models, growth platforms, and allocation of leadership attention and company resources.
Set a proactive strategic agenda by identifying opportunities, risks, and unanswered questions; sponsoring analysis; and recommending what the company should pursue, defer, reshape, or decline.
Lead the Strategy team’s annual and multi-year planning, objectives and key results, scorecards, and initiative reviews.
Support strategic evaluation of partnerships, capital initiatives, acquisitions, new ventures, international opportunities, and structural options in collaboration with relevant business units and functional owners.
Own the strategic-initiative portfolio by setting objectives, accountable leaders, milestones, decision points, and review mechanisms, and recommending whether work should advance, receive resources, be redirected, stopped, or handed off.
Advise executive leadership and the Board with independent, evidence-based recommendations; constructively challenge assumptions; frame alternatives and tradeoffs; and lead consequential strategic discussions.
Personally lead selected high-stakes initiatives through decision, launch, transaction, or clear operational handoff.
Integrate strategy across Finance, Corporate Development, Strategic Partnerships, Legal, Government Affairs, international teams, technical and regulatory leaders, and business units.
Build company-wide strategy capability by establishing methods for business cases, decision memos, portfolio reviews, and strategic planning, and coaching colleagues to improve decision quality and speed.
