•$175,000 - $220,000

About The Position

Hughes Marino is hiring a Vice President of Project Management for its Orange County team to support a confidential, high-growth defense technology client. The role is an owner's representative and third-party construction management position, serving as an extension of the client's internal team and advocating exclusively for the client's interests across construction projects. It is not a general contractor or developer role. The Vice President will oversee multiple concurrent commercial and specialty construction projects throughout their full lifecycle, from programming and design through construction completion and closeout. The position has direct accountability to client executive stakeholders and includes responsibility for project budgets, schedules, teams, vendors, and outcomes. The role also involves mentoring up to two Hughes Marino project managers or project engineers, coordinating with the brokerage team on construction-related lease provisions, and working regularly at project sites across markets. Candidates must be local to Orange County, California, or the surrounding Southern California area.

Requirements

  • Candidates from general contractor or subcontractor backgrounds must demonstrate a genuine shift to owner-side advocacy and perspective.
  • Proven ability to manage and hold external vendors and design teams accountable while leading junior internal staff.
  • High proficiency with Bluebeam, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, and Microsoft Project.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including comfort presenting to and advising C-suite stakeholders.
  • Self-directed, deadline-driven, and adaptable across multiple active projects in a fast-moving environment.
  • Local to Orange County, California, or the surrounding Southern California area.
