Vice President of Construction

Tutera Senior Living & Health Care•Kansas City, MO

About The Position

The Vice President of Construction will provide overall direction and leadership for Tutera Group’s newly formed construction division. The role oversees assigned work programs across the project lifecycle, develops and executes project plans from pre-start through closeout, and builds and operates the construction division, including identifying the team needed to support business growth. The position calls for substantial experience managing large projects for general contractors, strong relationships with subcontractors and construction and project-management professionals, and practical judgment in establishing an effective construction function. The Vice President will establish the division’s structure, staffing plans, workflows, operating standards, project-management practices, documentation, reporting, and controls. The role oversees pre-construction, procurement, subcontractor management, budgeting, accounting, cost controls, schedules, project documentation, field progress, quality, safety, commissioning, and closeout. The position also advises senior leadership on project delivery, staffing, risk, budgets, construction strategy, and whether projects should be self-performed or delivered by third-party contractors. When third-party contractors are engaged, the Vice President directly manages them as an Owner’s Representative. The role leads and develops staff, manages staffing levels in response to the project pipeline, coordinates with facilities and plant operations, and cultivates relationships with trades, suppliers, design professionals, and facility stakeholders. It champions safety and regulatory compliance, maintains required accreditations to serve as the organization’s supervisor and license holder across multiple municipalities, and develops technology and software strategies for field management. The position involves up to 25% regional travel to visit and support locations and build sites. The description states that the role requires work in kitchen and dining environments that may include heat, cold, humidity, wet floors, noise, odors, and fast-paced service demands, as well as the physical, mental, and environmental efforts described in an attached Job Activity Description.
