Vice President of Product, Advisor Experience

Mercer Advisors•Denver, CO
•$212,500 - $250,000

About The Position

Mercer Advisors is seeking a product leader to own the advisor experience end to end across its Platform organization. The role defines what a great day looks like for an advisor and turns that vision into roadmaps, partnerships, and delivery discipline. Aspen is the backbone of advisor work, and the position is accountable for addressing friction, improving productivity, and giving advisors more time to spend with clients. The role owns two roadmaps: a joint roadmap with Avantos, Mercer Advisors’ Aspen platform partner, and a Mercer Advisors-specific roadmap for differentiated capabilities. The position reports to the Chief Platform Officer and works alongside a designated business lead from problem definition through launch. It leads a cross-functional team and is accountable for advisor outcomes, adoption, and continuous learning. The role requires availability during standard business hours, Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., with occasional early or late hours to meet business tasks and client needs. Work may be performed in a professional office environment or a dedicated home office workspace. The work involves routinely sitting and standing; lifting more than 10 pounds is not required.

Requirements

  • 12 or more years of product management experience, with 5 or more years leading product teams; a senior director candidate may have 8 or more years of product management experience and 3 or more years of leadership experience.
  • Experience ideally includes a workflow-heavy product for internal or professional users.
  • Track record managing strategic vendor or platform partnerships and shaping a joint roadmap.
  • Ability to observe advisors at work and identify underlying problems with empathy for operators.
  • Strong command of data, including setting and baselining metrics and using them to make decisions.
  • Comfort with AI-enabled product work, including governance, adoption, and measuring productivity gains.
  • Proven ability to build and run intake and prioritization processes, defend a roadmap, and explain decisions to say no.
  • Strong cross-functional relationship-building skills and ability to earn trust without relying on authority.
  • Proactive communication skills, including candidly surfacing problems and recommending a path forward.
  • Willingness to disagree and commit: push back in discussions and support the decision once made.
  • Availability during standard business hours, Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., with occasional early or late hours as needed.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Salesforce, Orion, or Avantos-style workflow platforms.
  • Experience in an RIA, a custodian, or an advisor-facing product at scale.

Responsibilities

  • Define the advisor experience vision and own the Advisory Experience roadmap, including routines and huddles, dashboards, accumulation and share of wallet, action plans, team configuration and staffing, and Platform NPS.
  • Establish structured intake and prioritization processes, use T-shirt sizing, make trade-offs visible, and clearly explain decisions to business stakeholders.
  • Own the Mercer Advisors relationship with Avantos, hold the vendor accountable, and represent Mercer Advisors in roadmap discussions.
  • Create and manage a joint roadmap with Avantos, including shared priorities, dependencies, and regular steering committees.
  • Determine with the team what to build, buy, or partner on, and identify where Avantos’ product direction supports Mercer Advisors or requires advocacy.
  • Build the internal roadmap for Mercer Advisors-specific capabilities in Aspen, including AI-enabled workflows, permissions and field-level security, and advisor performance and compensation views.
  • Reduce clicks and handoffs for routine advisor tasks, beginning with the highest-volume actions.
  • Coordinate with Platform teams across Aspen, Client Portal, Relationship Expansion, and Investment Platform to provide a consistent experience across Aspen, Salesforce, Orion, and Box.
  • Define and measure Advisor NPS and explain the factors that affect it.
  • Lead measurement of shared client and advisor outcomes, such as client touchpoints, referrals, action plan coverage, advisor capacity and productivity, and team retention; baseline outcomes within 90 days and publish them on a dashboard.
  • Require an impact hypothesis before each build and a measurement plan before each launch; monitor adoption and review results to inform future work.
  • Partner with the business as one team, spend time with advisors, relationship managers, and clients, and attend meetings where the work happens.
  • Work closely with Client Team to prioritize the roadmap and deliver high-value impact.
  • Lead a cross-functional team of product managers, designers, engineers, data, BI, and enablement professionals, with shared accountability for outcomes and craft.
