About The Position

The Contingent is seeking a Vice President of Product to lead product strategy and execution for its Every Child initiative. This role is critical in scaling proven approaches into repeatable, scalable solutions to support foster parent recruitment, volunteer engagement, and community mobilization across multiple states. The VP of Product will work closely with the Chief Strategy & Innovation Officer (CSIO) to build operational excellence across Product Management, Engineering, Design, and State Implementation. This position operates within The Contingent’s EOS/Traction framework, functioning as the key senior Implementer to the CSIO’s Visionary leadership. The role requires leading with operational clarity, driving accountability, and coordinating execution across teams while staying aligned with strategic direction. Collaboration with the VP of Marketing & Experience is essential to ensure product roadmaps reflect marketing and customer experience needs. The VP of Product will lead their team with a coaching and empowering posture, fostering growth and high-quality output. Key attributes for this role include low ego, high trust, and a genuine investment in the success of others.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • 8+ years of experience in product management.
  • At least 4 years in a senior leadership role overseeing product, engineering, and design functions.
  • Demonstrated experience directly managing people managers and individual contributors, across a team of 10 or more.
  • Experience translating strategic vision into an actionable roadmap and delivery cadence, ideally within an EOS/Traction or comparable operating framework.
  • Experience leading a product or service through expansion into new markets, regions, or jurisdictions.
  • Experience serving as a senior point of contact for external partners or stakeholders, including managing complex relationships with government, institutional, or enterprise partners.
  • Experience overseeing organizational technology, including decisions about building, buying, or integrating solutions.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Experience working with Microsoft Dynamics 365, or another CRM (Customer Relations Management) platform.
  • Legally eligible to work in the United States.

Responsibilities

  • Translate the product strategy set by the CSIO into a clear, actionable roadmap for Product Management, Engineering, and Design.
  • Collaborate with the VP of Marketing & Experience to ensure the roadmap is informed by and responsive to marketing and customer experience needs.
  • Own the delivery cadence across Product Management, Engineering, and Design, ensuring smooth sprint execution, resource allocation, and product improvement cycles.
  • Foster a culture of operational excellence in product delivery, promoting efficiency, sound decision-making, and pride in high-quality output.
  • Identify and remove obstacles that impede delivery, making timely decisions and involving the right people for broader input.
  • Provide direct leadership to a team of five, including a Director of Engineering, Product Manager, Senior Product Manager, Senior UX/UI Designer, and Implementation Manager.
  • Create a supportive, high-trust environment where team members can openly share challenges and perform at their best.
  • Serve as the primary decision-maker for the team, guiding through complexity, providing clear direction, and enabling confident execution.
  • Coach and develop team members, investing in their growth and building overall team capability.
  • Make staffing decisions within Engineering, Product Management, and Design, presenting hiring recommendations to the CSIO.
  • Lead the implementation of Every Child products and services in new state jurisdictions, overseeing a dedicated implementation team.
  • Act as a senior point of contact for state executive partners, building strong relationships and ensuring accountability during implementation.
  • Identify opportunities to improve and iterate on the product array based on learnings from new state implementations.
  • Travel quarterly to support new state implementation activities.
  • Serve as a trusted technology partner for program and operations teams, understanding their needs and identifying appropriate solutions (build, buy, or integrate).
  • Oversee organizational IT through the Engineering team, ensuring well-managed technology infrastructure responsive to user needs.
  • Engage across teams to resolve cross-functional challenges, ensuring product and technology delivery support broader organizational goals.
  • Participate as a collaborative voice in organization-wide planning, providing an operational and delivery perspective.
  • Maintain close connection with the CSIO to ensure clarity on strategic priorities and alignment of execution.
  • Be prepared for variability in responsibilities as determined by the supervisor in a dynamic work environment.
