This role reports to the Executive Vice President of Administration. The VP of IT is responsible for organizing, planning, directing, and controlling all the Credit Union's electronic and information technology functions, including systems and programming, computer operations, phone operations, infrastructure, information security, data analytics, business process solutions and related vendor relationships. This role aligns technology investments with business objectives to ensure operational scalability, risk mitigation, and fiscal responsibility. The individual in this role will drive the organization’s data maturity journey, optimize business process solutions through modern automation, ensure peak core system performance, and maintain fiscal responsibility. Responsible for overall hardware, software, and equipment purchases and maintenance. Responsible for innovations and the development and implementation of the Credit Union's IT strategic plan. Responsible for disaster recovery planning, incidence response and mitigation strategies. Responsible for the information security of all members and confidential information maintained by the Credit Union, functions as the organization’s Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) with the primary goal to protect credit union data, technology assets, and infrastructure from internal and external threats. Requirements

  • Master’s degree in information technology or related field or Bachelor’s degree and certifications.
  • Minimum of ten years of experience in information technology and operations.
  • Eight years of managerial experience.
  • Experience leading a multi-disciplined information technology team.
  • Deep knowledge of governance, risk, and compliance.
  • Strong understanding of network architecture, firewalls, and cloud environments.
  • Understanding of large organization operations and information technology needs.
  • Experience managing enterprise systems.
  • Familiarity with data storage technologies and business intelligence tool deployment.
  • Expert ability to assess issues regarding information systems and create manageable solutions.
  • Thorough understanding of critical organizational Information Technology policies and procedures.
  • Thorough understanding of or the ability to quickly master existing technology used in the organization.
  • Advanced analytical knowledge in decision analysis and budget administration.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Driving innovations and the development and implementation of the Credit Union's IT strategic plan.
  • Developing and executing disaster recovery planning, incidence response and mitigation strategies.
  • Ensuring the information security of all members and confidential information maintained by the Credit Union, functioning as the organization’s Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) with the primary goal to protect credit union data, technology assets, and infrastructure from internal and external threats.
  • Partnering with Vice Presidents and Board of Directors with long and short run Information Technology planning.
  • Developing a total strategy and direction for the Credit Union's electronic processing functions.
  • Executing established goals and ensuring that corporate-wide goals are complemented and supported.
  • Updating the executive team on technological trends and recommending new technologies to improve the efficiency, processes, and operations of the credit union.
  • Analyzing the requirements of other departments and implementing technology controls.
  • Developing and implementing operational plans, policies, and goals that further strategic objectives.
  • Preparing, implementing, and executing the Information Technology budget.
  • Ensuring the implementation of cost-effective and efficient systems and computer operations designed to meet current and future information needs.
  • Managing, directing, overseeing, and ensuring the efficiency of Computer Operations, Telecommunications, Information Systems, LAN/WAN Networks, and PC systems.
  • Ensuring users’ and members’ needs are met and that they are fully capable of utilizing established systems.
  • Reviewing requests for additional services and upgrades, assessing the costs and benefits to the organization.
  • Ensuring that equipment, peripheral devices, and software are set up and operated in accordance with prescribed instructions.
  • Researching and recommending equipment, software, and system updates.
  • Ensuring that Information technology systems are secure, properly backed up, and appropriately documented.
  • Managing and overseeing Department expenses.
  • Pursuing cost-saving measures.
  • Overseeing the development of an appropriate data warehouse of organizational data.
  • Ensuring functions will partner with product owners, business lines, and channels to maximize their current product attributes, usage, marketing opportunities, and product performance.
  • Continually monitoring technical and processing priorities and methods.
  • Continually evaluating established policies and procedures and updating or modifying them as necessary.
  • Periodically reviewing the Credit Union's information needs and modifying the systems as required.
  • Defining and tracking IT Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
  • Ensuring that foundational platforms are fully leveraged, customized, and integrated.
  • Driving internal training and adoption strategies to guarantee that newly deployed business process solutions are successfully utilized.
  • Providing leadership to personnel through effective objective setting, delegation, and communication.
  • Conducting staff meetings as required.
  • Directing, scheduling, and coordinating Department functions.
  • Ensuring that personnel are well-trained, effective, and optimally used.
  • Instructing personnel regularly regarding policy, procedure, and program changes.
  • Conducting performance appraisals as required.
  • Formulating and implementing corrective actions as needed.
  • Ensuring that staffing levels are appropriate and human resources are effectively utilized.
  • Interviewing, hiring, and assigning personnel.
  • Maintaining pace with technological progress, economic change, and company needs by directing continual improvements of IS staff, equipment, and procedures.
  • Recruiting, mentoring, and retaining high-performing teams.
  • Advising executive leadership on infrastructure scalability and risk management.
  • Leading technical evaluation for vendor management and IT contract negotiations.
  • Driving change management and adoption.
  • Ensuring that questions and concerns are promptly and courteously resolved.
  • Ensuring that Credit Union policies and procedures are effectively conveyed.
  • Ensuring that the Credit Union's professional reputation and appropriate levels of confidentiality are maintained.
  • Representing the Credit Union with various trade professionals and groups.
  • Ensuring that Information Technology functions are well coordinated with other Credit Union operations.
  • Advising and assisting Branch and Department Managers with their information technology needs.
  • Keeping the President, Executive Vice President, and Board of Directors informed of Information Technology progress toward established objectives and of any significant problems.
  • Completing required reports and records.
  • Attending and participating in meetings and committees as required.
  • Bridging the gap between technical teams and business leaders.
  • Translating complex technical details into clear, business-value conversations for non-technical audiences.
  • Staying informed of trends and changes in the information technology field.
  • Completing special Information Technology projects and research studies as required.
  • Complying with all Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) rules and regulations and attending required annual BSA training.
  • Ensuring that the work area is clean, secure, and well-maintained.
  • Being responsible for keeping the Credit Union in compliance with all rules and regulations from the NCUA and other regulatory bodies.
  • Developing a plan to remediate any findings during audits from outside and internal resources.
  • Developing a long-term security plan to ensure the Credit Union is compliant with current and future rules and regulations.
  • Enforcing data governance policies to guarantee data quality, access controls, and compliance.
  • Owning the organization's security defense strategy and incident response readiness.
  • Ensuring patch compliance across company hardware, applications, and data stores.
  • Maintaining compliance with industry standards.
  • Continuously evaluating the credit union's technology risk posture and effectively mitigating potential vulnerabilities.
