Vice President of Construction

Facility Innovations Group•Austin, TX

About The Position

Facility Innovations Group (FacilityIG) is a mid-sized, entrepreneurial construction company delivering electrical construction and facility improvement programs for commercial clients, including national retail and convenience programs. The company is growing its industrial-commercial electrical work for data centers, manufacturers, warehouse and distribution operators, and selected general contractors, while continuing to emphasize safety, quality, and margin execution. The Vice President of Construction is the senior operating leader responsible for converting contracted work into safe, well-executed, profitable projects. The role owns construction delivery from project turnover through closeout and leads project management, field supervision, construction support teams, subcontractors, and partners. Its top priority is expanding the industrial-commercial electrical business by developing the delivery capacity, field leadership, and operating discipline needed to execute larger and more complex electrical scopes. The current portfolio includes approximately 85 active projects and a backlog of roughly $70 million, delivered by a construction organization of approximately 50 employees. This is a hands-on executive role requiring leadership at both the portfolio and jobsite levels, deep understanding of electrical construction, accountability to plans, and development of the systems, people, and culture needed to scale. The position is based in Austin, Texas, or Phoenix, Arizona, with relocation support and regular travel to project sites. It reports to the Founder and CEO and the President / COO. Within approved policies, budgets, and authority limits, the role can assign and reassign construction personnel; hire, develop, discipline, and terminate staff in coordination with leadership and HR; approve schedules, staffing plans, execution approaches, and corrective actions; manage subcontractors and suppliers within approved budgets; approve change orders and project expenditures within established limits; stop work for safety, quality, or compliance concerns; and recommend organizational, process, and system changes. The role's performance is assessed on safety, project margins and forecast accuracy, schedule adherence, change-order capture, billing and cash flow, quality, client satisfaction and repeat business, growth and execution of industrial-commercial electrical work, employee retention, and leadership development. Success over the first 12 to 18 months means projects are safe, on schedule, and at or above planned margin; clients entrust FacilityIG with larger work; project and field leaders are stronger and better supported; portfolio systems provide visibility; and the organization is prepared to scale. The role may offer broader operating responsibility and potential progression to a COO-level role, depending on performance and company needs; this progression is not guaranteed.
