About The Position

Responsible for the overall performance of the assigned branch, including leadership of the universal banking staff, oversight of branch operations, and progress toward key sales and operational goals. This role also carries significant business development responsibility, with the VP, Market Manager expected to spend approximately 50% of their time outside the branch cultivating new business relationships and executing strategies to maintain or improve results. Generate profitable new financial relationships within the business and commercial banking segments, with an emphasis on deposits, retail and business services, and other bank products. While service remains a core responsibility, the Market Manager ensures that branch staff meet customers’ financial needs in order to retain and grow profitable relationships with the Bank. This position is accountable for sales and service performance across all retail products and services for consumer and commercial customers, delivers a high standard of service to support customer satisfaction, maintains knowledge of documentation and procedures required to open various account types, and completes weekly sales calls and production goals established by the Director of Retail Banking.

  • Handles all daily routine questions and problems as they arise with customer satisfaction.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a business related major, minimum of seven years of experience in the financial industry required or a high school diploma or GED and four years of progressive banking experience and/or training.

Responsibilities

  • Develop the Assistant Branch Manager to support oversight of day-to-day branch operations.
  • Attend branch and bank meetings and provide customers and the public with assistance on a broad range of banking matters.
  • Supervise branch audits.
  • Maintain dual controls and follow all prescribed security and operational procedures.
  • Develops and trains universal banking staff through effective coaching techniques, ensuring customer satisfaction and the achievement of branch goals and objectives.
  • Adheres to the prescribed security controls to protect the branch against criminal and fraudulent operations and unnecessary risk or exposure.
  • Maintain continuous focus on growing sales knowledge, staying current with industry and market trends, improving processes, and enhancing the client experience.
  • Provides all tracking and reporting as required by retail management.
  • Identify and acquire new banking relationships while retaining existing clients, and consistently meet or exceed monthly, quarterly, and annual production goals.
  • Prospect for new business by meeting with prospective and existing clients to deliver financial solutions, manage the sales process from start to finish, and maintain a weekly sales plan with a defined number of calls.
  • Understand differing industry financial and credit product needs and trends.
  • Keep informed through independent sources, seminars and classes to further enhance knowledge of sales, product knowledge, and lending opportunities.
  • Drive revenue growth by selling business and retail products and services and completing all required tracking and reporting for retail management.
  • Mentor and coach branch staff as needed.
  • Maintains a positive image for Lakeside Bank by participating and/or taking a leadership role in community events, local organization events and networking activities while capitalizing on those networking relationships.
  • Support company wide sales and marketing campaigns and initiatives; executes local strategies.
  • Sell and support the cross-selling of bank products and services in accordance with established guidelines and procedures, promote additional business from existing customers, maintain a calling program, and spend approximately 50% of time on outside sales calls.
  • Services include time and demand deposit accounts, negotiable and non-negotiable Certificates of Deposit, personal loans approved by higher authority, lines of credit, other personal banking services, and account opening and closing through the ATM network.
  • Researches and resolves more complicated account problems or errors.
  • Investigates files, documents or reports on transactions to determine the problem and cause of action to be taken.
  • Authorizes overdrafts, approves checks for cashing and processes transactions within established limits.
  • May have a higher limit of authorization.
  • Complete special assignments and tasks under limited supervision within established time frames while meeting regular responsibilities.
  • May be required to assist with Teller Department, including opening a cash drawer as needed, handling transactions as needed.
  • Build community and professional relationships with retail customers, local business leaders, trade organizations, and service clubs to identify financial needs and promote the bank’s full range of products and services.
  • Demonstrate a proactive, solution-oriented approach in support of branch and client needs.
  • Perform duties directly related to managerial policies and procedures within retail branch operations, exercising discretion and independent judgment under limited supervision.
  • May be asked to provide training to new personal bankers.
  • Exercise due diligence to minimize the bank’s overall risk exposure and make approvals within assigned authority levels.
  • When matters exceed that authority, escalate to senior branch staff and appropriate bank leaders, including other Market Managers, the Chief Operating Officer, the Director of Retail Banking, and Regional Manager.
  • Performs other duties as assigned or required
  • Exercise leadership in staffing, performance appraisals, promotions, salary recommendations, and terminations.
  • Approves transactions that exceed a Universal Banker’s limit or Personal Banker’s authority
  • Explains bank policy and/or product parameters as outlined in our consumer disclosure brochures and interprets banking regulations as they relate to a specific transaction or customer inquiry
  • Provide guidance, training, and performance feedback to ensure Universal Bankers have the skills to serve customers effectively and professionally.
  • Ensure that departmental policies and procedures are followed, provide feedback to the Director of Retail Banking and Human Resources on violations, and recommend process improvements as needed.
  • Responsible for opening and closing the branch
