About The Position

Goldman Sachs Asset Management is a leading global asset manager. The External Investing Group (XIG) provides investors with investment solutions across various asset classes, including hedge funds, private equity, and real estate. XIG manages globally diversified programs and customized portfolios, offering manager diligence, portfolio construction, risk management, and liquidity solutions. The XIG Hedge Funds team, established in 1969, specializes in sourcing, examining, and investing in external hedge fund managers, managing over $26 billion in assets. Alternatives Capital Formation (ACF) manages capital raising and strategy for alternative investments. This specific role within ACF is focused on hedge funds and involves collaborating across product verticals, strategies, and teams within Goldman Sachs.

Requirements

  • At least 7+ years in a similar or related role.
  • Demonstrated experience and expertise in capital formation and investor relations.
  • Excellent communication (written and oral), analytical and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong relationship building skills, for use with both clients and internal stakeholders.
  • Strong leadership skills, including the ability to lead global campaigns and manage existing investor relations.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to help direct / manage production of a high volume of quality work across team within tight timeframes, often including multiple simultaneous projects.
  • Attention to detail—proven experience of delivering high levels of accuracy.
  • Experience and familiarity with hedge fund separately managed accounts.
  • Willingness and desire to train and mentor junior members of team, as well as contribute to and foster a positive and motivating team environment.
  • Candidate must be a team player and self-motivated, demonstrating a willingness to take on more responsibility over time.

Nice To Haves

  • Strong preference for experience and familiarity with hedge fund separately managed accounts and / or less correlated strategies.

Responsibilities

  • Drive commercial strategy, capital formation & client engagement for various funds/products.
  • Lead the launch, management of strategy, and ongoing business development for funds/products, with a focus on multi-manager separately managed account strategy.
  • Effectively articulate investment strategy and its role in an investor's portfolio to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with ACF, Sales, and firm-wide stakeholders to execute go-to-market strategies, define target investor bases, and track fundraising progress.
  • Lead development of marketing content and define strategic direction.
  • Lead and direct client due diligence processes, including legal documentation and negotiations.
  • Engage frequently with clients, with potential for business travel.
  • Guide and direct responses to client inquiries, including due diligence requests, RFPs, performance and data analyses, ongoing reporting, and portfolio updates.
  • Respond to internal questions from senior management and sales channels.
