About The Position

The Global Workplace Design Lead owns BlackRock’s Global Workplace Design Standards and furniture programs, ensuring consistency and functionality across the firm’s flexible workplace. The role reports to the Global Head of Design and Construction and works closely with regional Design & Construction leads and other Workplace Planning functions. It provides design support for real estate projects and champions technology and sustainability in applying design standards. The role also manages BlackRock’s Global Art Program, partnering with the Art Curator on acquisitions and the existing collection, maintaining alignment with the firm’s brand and standards, and managing the annual global art budget. The design lead uses tools such as Saltmine and Revit for internal reviews using 3D models and renderings.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in architecture, interior design, or a related field from an accredited college.
6–8 years of progressive advancement in design management in the design and construction of office interiors.
Experience with the office furniture industry and knowledge of current products and trends.
Knowledge of interior design trends and workplace innovations, including finishes and materials.
Excellent collaboration and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain effective working relationships at all organizational levels.
Excellent presentation, verbal, and written communication skills.
Financial management skills, including experience managing budgets and partnering with procurement.
Organization, attention to detail, prioritization, and multitasking skills.
Knowledge and experience developing and delivering alternative workplace strategies.
Experience working in a matrix environment and across multiple cities and countries.
Self-motivation, flexibility, and ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative team environment.
Ability to think strategically and develop tactical implementation plans.
Ability to build collaborations across functions and organizational levels, both inside and outside the company.
Experience with MS Excel, MS Project, PowerPoint, AutoCAD, Revit, Saltmine, Procore, and space management systems.

Nice To Haves

LEED or similar sustainability accreditation is preferred but not required.
Experience in sustainable office design.

Responsibilities

Own BlackRock’s Global Workplace Design Standards and ensure consistent architecture, furniture, interior design, and signage across global projects.
Coordinate design standards and specifications with MEP, Health & Safety, Sustainability, and Technology functions.
Provide design support for all real estate projects.
Work with regional Design & Construction leads across the Americas, EMEA, and APAC to ensure consistent global application of standards.
Manage the furniture program and maintain a list of current products that are functional, cost-effective, meet standards, and are included in global furniture agreements.
Partner with Health & Safety to develop workplace design solutions that support an inclusive environment.
Support furniture evaluations for ergonomic requirements.
Serve as a design partner and resource to Workplace Experience colleagues who operate facilities.
Manage BlackRock’s Global Art Program, including working with the Art Curator on acquiring art and managing the existing collection.
Ensure the art program aligns with BlackRock’s brand and standards.
Develop and manage the annual global art budget.
Use Saltmine, Revit, and 3D models and renderings to conduct internal design reviews.
