About The Position

Nexstar Media Inc. is seeking an experienced television professional to serve as Vice President & General Manager overseeing its media properties in Peoria, Illinois. The role has full oversight of Nexstar’s operations of WMBD (CBS) and oversees operational agreements with Cunningham Broadcasting to provide services to WYZZ (Fox), as well as centralillinoisproud.com and the stations’ other digital, mobile, and social assets. The General Manager will lead broadcast operations in a sales-driven organization, supporting advanced digital advertising solutions and new business development. The role also calls for developing locally originated content across OTT, linear, web, and social platforms, increasing audience engagement and reach, and promoting collaboration and operational efficiency across station departments. The successful candidate will bring strategic vision, effective execution, local outreach, and thoughtful community involvement, while building relationships with community leaders and station clients. The position is based in Peoria, Illinois. Compensation starts at $185,000 and is commensurate with experience and skill level. The position is eligible for bonuses and commissions.

Requirements

At least five years of broadcast management experience at a commercial broadcast television station with accompanying digital assets.
Proven ability to lead broadcast operational teams in sales-driven organizations.
Strong understanding of advanced digital advertising solutions and new business development.
Strong background in creating locally originated content across multiple platforms, including OTT, linear, web, and social.
Demonstrated ability to promote collaboration and teamwork across station departments and operations.
Proven track record managing high-performing sales and news teams.
Ability to collaborate effectively with department heads and staff.
Ability to engage local community leaders and develop long-term relationships with key station clients.
Exemplary strategic vision, focused execution, and a demonstrated understanding of local outreach and community involvement.
