Vice President - Forward Deployed Engineer
About The Position
The VP-Forward Deployed Engineer works at the intersection of investment strategy, quantitative analysis, and applied artificial intelligence. The role partners closely with portfolio management and investment research teams to identify opportunities and design, develop, prototype, and deploy LLM-enabled tools that improve investment decision-making and research processes. It combines investment management knowledge with software engineering capabilities to turn investment ideas and research needs into scalable technology solutions. The position works with investment leaders and cross-functional partners to deliver AI capabilities that meet enterprise requirements for security, governance, scalability, and regulatory compliance. It also helps shape the AI and investment technology roadmap and transitions successful prototypes into sustainable enterprise solutions. Employees work in the office at least four days per week and may work from home one day per week. Some roles may have different or additional in-office expectations. Applicants must have valid U.S. work authorization that will not require visa sponsorship now or in the future.
Requirements
- At least 10 years of combined experience across investment management, quantitative research or strategy, and hands-on software or AI engineering, with demonstrated success taking investment problems from concept to working solution.
- Direct experience working alongside trading desks, portfolio managers, or investment researchers.
- Hands-on experience building and shipping LLM-enabled or LLM-integrated applications, including RAG or embeddings, agentic workflows, prompt engineering, and API integration.
- Strong Python development skills and ability to produce production-quality code.
- Expertise with cloud infrastructure and modern software practices, including CI/CD, version control, and API design.
- Fluency in at least one asset class—equities, fixed income, multi-asset, or macro—at a level that enables meaningful contributions to investment discussions.
- Track record of delivering secure, auditable AI solutions in a regulated environment in partnership with risk and compliance.
- Valid U.S. work authorization that does not require visa sponsorship now or in the future.
Nice To Haves
- Desk strategist, quant strat, or research technologist background.
- Direct experience supporting front-office investment teams, including portfolio managers, analysts, researchers, or traders.
- Familiarity with agent frameworks and orchestration tools such as LangChain, LangGraph, LlamaIndex, or MCP, and with vector databases.
- Experience building internal copilots, research assistants, or document-intelligence tools.
- CFA, FRM, or equivalent investment credential.
- Track record of shipping AI or analytics solutions that produced measurable, real-world outcomes.
Responsibilities
- Advise investment leaders and translate investment strategies, research priorities, and business challenges into AI-enabled solutions that improve investment outcomes and organizational efficiency.
- Design and deliver proof-of-concept and production-ready AI capabilities using advanced analytics, machine learning, and LLM technologies to accelerate investment insights and decision-making.
- Partner with Investments, Technology, Data, Risk, and Compliance teams to ensure solutions meet enterprise standards for security, governance, scalability, and regulatory compliance.
- Influence the AI and investment technology roadmap by identifying high-value opportunities, evaluating emerging capabilities, and promoting adoption across the investment organization.
- Transition successful prototypes into sustainable enterprise capabilities in partnership with engineering and platform teams, scaling solutions and realizing long-term business value.
