About The Position

The Vice President, Development at SH Hotels & Resorts will focus on sourcing and executing development deals in Asia Pacific. The role leads the evaluation of opportunities, pitching the company’s hotel brands and management platform, and negotiating management and branded residential contracts. The position requires building relationships within the Development team and across other company functions, as well as adapting to deal-making across a broad geographic area. The successful candidate will bring strong analytical skills, an existing industry network, strategic thinking, communication and leadership abilities, and a positive, self-starting approach. The role offers exposure to company senior leadership as the company expands its presence in Asia Pacific. Travel is expected 25–50% of the time.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree (BA/BS).
• At least 8 years of experience in hotel management and related fields.
• Experience in hotel feasibility and business development functions.
• Well-versed in hotel underwriting and knowledgeable about typical management contract terms.
• Effective communication skills, including the ability to share a point of view clearly and logically.
• Strategic thinking and the ability to navigate roadblocks in negotiations.
• Natural leadership qualities and the ability to motivate other team members.
• Strong social skills and a positive, self-starter mindset.
• Travel 25–50% of the time.

Responsibilities

• Leverage a professional network to source new leads for the company.
• Pitch the brands and SH management platform to prospective clients.
• Actively negotiate contracts, with support from legal resources.
• Take ownership of deals and frame internal approval requests as appropriate.
• Engage with senior leadership in the region to amplify messaging to clients.
• Develop internal relationships within the Development team and across other functions.
