About The Position

As a Vice President, Commercial Lender, you will be responsible for managing and monitoring a loan portfolio in the range of $50M - $75M to ensure proper risk ratings and early identification of potential problems, as well as focusing on developing new and enhancing relationships with potential and existing members. You will grow the average products per household, member business loans, and new share growth. You will support the Credit Union's culture through ongoing member contact, quality member services, and superior product knowledge. You will participate in prospecting activities and campaigns to grow loan balances and business deposits while promoting treasury management services for member businesses throughout the Credit Union.

Requirements

  • 7+ years' commercial lending experience in the finance industry.
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Management, Business Administration, or related field.
  • Valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

  • Oversight and growth of a commercial lending portfolio, meeting specified business loans and deposit production expectations.
  • Portfolio management including delinquency, covenant tracking, and credit risk ratings monitoring to ensure adherence to policy and procedures.
  • Cultivating and meeting with prospective and current members to gather information on business needs, income, collateral, and financial condition.
  • Utilizing delegated lending authority to approve and originate business loans within loan officer limits or submitting loans to the Executive Loan Committee and Board Loan Committee when exceeding limits.
  • Collaborating with Lender Support Specialists, Credit Analysts, and Commercial Operations staff on loan presentations, including validation of underwriting, credit report reviews, and appraisals.
  • Serving as a mentor and advisor to other business lenders.
  • New business development and securing relationships with centers of influence in commercial real estate and C&I lending through community involvement, networking, and non-profit boards.
  • Overseeing the cultivation of new leads and maintaining/strengthening existing relationships.
  • Following up on referrals, identifying new relationship opportunities, and cross-selling opportunities to educate members and non-members on credit union products and services.
  • Initiating, creating, and delivering commercial lending and deposit presentations.
  • Following up with members after closing to assess needs or answer questions.
  • Maintaining and strengthening relationships with the existing member base and building new ones.
  • Meeting specified annual cross-sales expectations and requirements.
  • Interviewing member loan applicants to identify commercial business loan needs, collect information, and evaluate income and financial condition.
  • Explaining loan programs and recommending options.
  • Ensuring accurate documentation and overseeing the processing and closing of all commercial business loans.
  • Initiating required adverse action letters when applicable.
  • Completing required annual training courses.
  • Continuous engagement with personal learning and development.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Complying with all company policies and procedures, applicable laws, and regulations, including the Credit Union Secrecy Act, the USA PATRIOT Act, and the Office of Foreign Assets Control.
