About The Position

Join an early-stage technology startup to refine and improve an existing software product. The product foundation is in place, but it needs cleanup, refinement, and innovation. The role involves working independently, taking ownership of projects, and contributing to the product’s direction. You will work closely with the founder to prioritize needs and turn feedback into practical improvements. The company is interested in someone who wants to grow with it and may be interested in the possibility of equity over time; any equity arrangement, timing, and terms would be discussed separately.

Requirements

Hands-on ability to use Claude Code and Codex for real software development work.
Experience working with different locally run LLMs, including choosing and using models for appropriate tasks.
Demonstrated ability to build, troubleshoot, and improve software through professional work, personal projects, or startup experience.
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to learn a codebase, investigate issues, and make sound decisions independently.
Comfort with debugging, testing, version control, software security, and maintaining code.
Initiative, follow-through, creativity, and comfort working in a startup environment with evolving priorities.
Clear communication and the ability to collaborate effectively in a fully remote setting.
A product mindset and a desire to build something useful for real people.

Responsibilities

Learn the existing product and codebase, identify issues, and recommend practical improvements.
Clean up and refactor existing software, fix bugs, and improve performance, security, reliability, and maintainability.
Design, build, test, and improve features that make the product more valuable and easier to use.
Use Claude Code, OpenAI Codex, and local large language models to investigate problems, develop solutions, and accelerate delivery.
Review, understand, test, and debug AI-generated code, taking responsibility for the quality of the final product.
Explore AI tools, models, integrations, and workflows that could improve the product and development process.
Take projects from idea through implementation and clearly communicate progress, decisions, and roadblocks.
Work with the founder to prioritize needs and translate feedback into practical improvements.
