About The Position
The Coder works under direct supervision and abstracts medical information and assigns ICD-9-CM, ICD-10-CM, and CPT codes to medical records. The coding supports billing and the retrieval of medical information used by various agencies. The position is with Quail Creek Surgical Hospital in Amarillo, Texas, and is described as a day-shift, full-time role.
Requirements
- High school education.
- Associate degree in Health Information Technology (HIT) or equivalent experience.
- Familiarity with ICD-9-CM and CPT coding principles and Medicare and Medicaid coding regulations.
- Two years of experience in ICD-9-CM and CPT coding.
- RHIT or equivalent experience, or CCS or equivalent experience.
- Hospital coding experience.
Nice To Haves
- Medicare coding experience.
