About The Position

Mesquite Rehabilitation Institute in Mesquite, Texas, is seeking a Coder to join its patient-care team. The institute provides inpatient rehabilitation for patients recovering from serious health events and offers personalized therapy through an interdisciplinary team. The Coder uses ICD-10-CM standards to code and abstract medical records for reimbursement purposes and integrates the hospital’s mission and Guiding Principles into daily practice. This is a full-time, on-site position. Candidates must pass a coding test during the interview process.

Requirements

Two years of medical coding experience in ICD-9/ICD-10; listed as preferred.
Medical coding certification; listed as preferred.
Current knowledge of CPT and ICD-10 coding principles, government regulations, protocols, and third-party payer requirements regarding coding and billing.
Working knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology.
General computer skills, including data entry, word processing, email, and record management.
Effective organizational and time-management skills.
Effective written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to maintain quality and safety standards.
Ability to maintain appropriate confidentiality.
Ability to work closely and professionally with others.
Must pass a coding test during the interview process.

Nice To Haves

Two years of medical coding experience in ICD-9/ICD-10.
Medical coding certification.
Knowledge of government prospective payment system guidelines.
