Requirements

Minimum of BS degree in a relevant field to the discipline.
Active and unencumbered SC Veterinarian license (DVM or VMD).
Minimum of 5-year experience working with small and/or large animals in a clinical setting.
Must meet SACSCOC guidelines for teaching in the discipline.

Nice To Haves

Doctorate degree (DVM) or Master degree relevant to the discipline.
Prior teaching experience.

Responsibilities

Teach courses by providing systematically planned and delivered instruction in the classroom and through distance learning.
Design and develop courses and curriculum.
Evaluate student performance.
Perform castrations and ovariohysterectomies.
Advise students.
Review, evaluate, and revise course objectives, instructional materials, and course syllabi.
Design new courses as needed.
Ensure compliance with all accrediting guidelines.
Serve as academic advisor to students and participate in student recruitment and development.
Maintain records of student academic progress and attendance, evaluate level of achievement and assign grades.
Participate in professional development activities to improve teaching competence and to stay current in teaching field.
Serve on College committees and participate in recruiting and marketing activities.
Handle large dogs and occasionally work in an equine setting.
Active participation in animal welfare when live animals are on campus.
