About The Position
Calusa Veterinary Center is hiring a full-time Veterinary Technician to provide skilled care to patients and exceptional service to clients. The ideal candidate has experience in animal care, client communication, and veterinary procedures, and is passionate about improving the lives of pets and their owners. The role is scheduled overnight, 7 PM–7 AM, with rotational scheduling, including holidays and weekends. The salary is $23.00–$28.00, dependent on skill and experience. Calusa Veterinary Center is a full-service, AAHA-accredited 24-hour general practice and emergency small-animal hospital serving the Boca Raton, Florida area. Its 10,000-square-foot facility has 10 doctors and a large staff. The hospital provides diagnostic and preventive services and is equipped with digital radiography, digital dental radiography, in-house laboratories, CO2 laser, endoscopy, rhinoscopy, bronchoscopy, cold laser therapy, an underwater treadmill, and ultrasound. Additional services include hyperbaric oxygen therapy, acupuncture, rehabilitation, and pain management. The center combines modern medicine with time-tested practices and is dedicated to an inclusive culture that celebrates diversity.
Requirements
- Ability to handle animals safely and compassionately.
- Knowledge of common disease states and ability to alert veterinarians to changes in patient conditions.
- Familiarity with DEA, OSHA, and hospital safety guidelines.
Responsibilities
- Support veterinarians with patient care, examinations, surgery, anesthesia, and recovery.
- Safely handle and restrain animals with compassion.
- Communicate clearly with clients, including providing care instructions and status updates.
- Perform technical duties such as laboratory work, radiographs, injections, and IV catheter placement.
- Maintain accurate medical records and assist with medication dispensing.
- Help keep examination rooms, treatment areas, and equipment clean, stocked, and ready.
- Follow hospital, safety, and regulatory guidelines.
