About The Position

MedVet is seeking an Emergency Veterinary Technician for overnight work on its fast-paced emergency team. The role supports emergency patient assessment and prioritization, treatment, procedures, client communication, and nursing care for hospitalized patients. The technician works collaboratively with veterinarians and the patient care team, adapting to changing cases and critical situations.

Requirements

• Prior veterinary experience is required.
• Proficiency in calculations, including drug calculations, constant-rate infusions, and unit conversions.
• Flexibility with work hours and ability to work additional hours when necessary.
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Nice To Haves

• Previous emergency veterinary experience.

Responsibilities

• Record and deliver organized rounds, discuss cases, and gather additional information as needed.
• Evaluate incoming patients and prioritize them based on assessment.
• Partner with the patient care team on treatment plans, client communication, and nursing care concerns.
• Educate clients, including providing home-care instructions, medication information such as indications and adverse reactions, and wellness updates for hospitalized patients.
• Assist the DVM with patient assessment, treatment, and procedures.
• Provide monitoring and nursing care to hospitalized patients.
• Induce and monitor general anesthesia and sedation procedures.
• Perform in-house laboratory testing and prepare samples for outside laboratory testing.
