About The Position

MedVet is a fast-growing emergency and specialty veterinary provider with practices nationwide, offering advanced medical treatments and innovations. The Emergency Veterinary Technician works on a collaborative clinical team guided by the values of teamwork, leadership, and compassion. The emergency department is fast-paced, with varied cases and critical situations that require technicians to shift priorities quickly and work effectively under stress. This position is for overnight work. A sign-on bonus of up to $10,000 is offered based on skillset and experience.

Requirements

• Prior veterinary experience is required.
• Proficiency in calculations, including drug calculations, constant-rate infusions, and unit conversions.
• Flexibility with work hours and ability to work additional hours when necessary.
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Employment is dependent on passing a drug screen and background check.

Nice To Haves

• State Registered Veterinary Technician license preferred.
• Previous emergency veterinary experience desired.

Responsibilities

• Record and deliver organized rounds, discuss cases, and gather additional information as needed.
• Evaluate incoming patients and prioritize them based on assessment.
• Partner with the patient care team regarding treatment plans, client communication, and nursing care concerns.
• Educate clients, including providing home care instructions, explaining medications and potential adverse reactions, and sharing general wellness updates about hospitalized patients.
• Assist the veterinarian with patient assessment, treatment, and procedures.
• Monitor and provide nursing care to hospitalized patients.
• Induce and monitor general anesthesia and sedation procedures.
• Perform in-house laboratory testing and prepare samples for outside laboratory testing.
