About The Position
Calusa Veterinary Center is hiring a full-time Veterinary Technician to provide skilled patient care and exceptional service to clients. The ideal candidate has experience in animal care, client communication, and veterinary procedures, with a passion for improving the lives of pets and their owners. This is an overnight role with a 7 PM–7 AM schedule and rotating shifts, including weekends and holidays. The Veterinary Technician supports veterinarians with patient care and clinical procedures, handles and restrains animals compassionately, communicates with clients, and helps maintain accurate records and a clean, well-stocked clinical environment. The hospital is a full-service, AAHA-accredited, 24-hour general practice and emergency small-animal hospital serving the Boca Raton, Florida area. Its 10,000-square-foot facility has 10 doctors and a large staff, and offers diagnostic and preventive care alongside specialized services and equipment. Requirements
- Ability to handle animals safely and compassionately.
- Knowledge of common disease states and ability to alert veterinarians to changes in patient conditions.
- Familiarity with DEA, OSHA, and hospital safety guidelines.
- Experience in animal care, client communication, and veterinary procedures is described as ideal.
Responsibilities
- Support veterinarians with patient care, examinations, surgery, anesthesia, and recovery.
- Safely and compassionately handle and restrain animals.
- Communicate clearly with clients, including providing care instructions and patient status updates.
- Perform technical duties such as laboratory work, radiographs, injections, and IV catheter placement.
- Maintain accurate medical records and assist with dispensing medications.
- Keep examination rooms, treatment areas, and equipment clean, stocked, and ready.
- Follow hospital, safety, and regulatory guidelines.
