About The Position

BluePearl Pet Hospital in Conshohocken, PA is hiring for a compassionate and skilled Veterinary Technician to join our Overnight Emergency team! This role involves providing critical care to emergency patients, including anesthesia monitoring, triage, radiography, vital sign interpretation, CPR, medication administration, and catheter placement. The position also requires mentoring skills and empathy towards clients.

Requirements

  • Compassionate and skilled Veterinary Technician
  • Ability to work overnight shifts (Thurs-Sat, 7pm-7am)
  • Experience with anesthesia induction, monitoring, and recovery
  • Proficiency in triaging emergency cases and obtaining vital signs
  • Experience with digital radiography and patient positioning
  • Understanding of normal patient vital sign ranges
  • Ability to interpret vital signs and alert veterinarians to changes
  • Skill in initiating CPR
  • Proficiency in medical math calculations, including CRIs
  • Ability to administer medications via appropriate routes and duration
  • Proficiency in phlebotomy and placing intravenous catheters
  • Experience placing and maintaining feeding tubes and central line catheters

Responsibilities

  • Induce, monitor and recover anesthesia in patients and use anesthesia/monitoring equipment.
  • Triage emergency cases as they arrive at the hospital including obtaining vitals such as temperature heart rate, respiratory rate and blood pressure.
  • Perform digital radiography using proper technique including proper positioning of patients.
  • Have a complete understanding of normal ranges of patient vital signs, including but not limited to heart and respiratory rate, temperature, blood pressure and oxygen saturation.
  • Obtain and interpret blood pressure and other vital signs and alert Veterinarian to changes and issues.
  • Identify patients at risk for arrest and initiate CPR.
  • Properly calculate medical math (including constant rate infusions) and administer medications via appropriate routes and duration.
  • Are proficient at performing phlebotomy and placing intravenous catheters in all peripheral vessels.
  • Place and maintain feeding tubes and central line catheters.
  • Have a passion for mentoring and training other co-workers.
  • Have patience and empathy to address client concerns.
