About The Position

Friendship Hospital for Animals is seeking a Veterinary MRI Technician to work in its specialty veterinary hospital in Washington, D.C. The role focuses on operating and maintaining MRI equipment and supporting safe, comfortable patient care throughout imaging procedures. The technician collaborates with radiologists and other veterinary specialists to complete appropriate studies and maintain accurate records and a safe, organized MRI suite.

Requirements

Minimum of 1 year of work experience.
Strong understanding of MRI safety protocols and procedures.
Computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel, email, and imaging PACS.
Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.

Nice To Haves

Certification or a degree in veterinary technology, radiologic technology, or a related field.
Active American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (A.R.R.T.) certification.
Experience with MRI equipment in veterinary or human medicine.

Responsibilities

Operate and maintain MRI equipment to obtain high-quality diagnostic images.
Prepare, position, and monitor patients during MRI procedures, prioritizing safety and comfort.
Collaborate with radiologists and other veterinary specialists to ensure appropriate imaging studies are completed.
Follow MRI safety protocols, including screening for metal implants and other contraindications.
Perform basic calculations for IV contrast administration.
Maintain accurate patient records, imaging logs, and documentation.
Troubleshoot equipment concerns and assist with routine maintenance.
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe MRI suite.
