Requirements

  • +1 year of Leadership experience
  • High School Diploma
  • 5 + years of clinical experience
  • Strong Emergency Skills
  • Passion for Veterinary Medicine
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Professional personal appearance
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize, and delegate medical and administrative tasks
  • Ability to show leadership skills with all levels of experience and job duties
  • Read and respond to all communication in a timely manner
  • Attend leadership meetings
  • Must be positive, motivated, and dependable
  • Any allergies to animals must be controllable through medication.
  • Must be able to lift 40 pounds.
  • Must be willing to work long or irregular hours under pressure conditions.
  • This position requires the ability to walk, bend, stand, and reach constantly during a minimum 8-hour day.
  • Visual acuity sufficient to maintain accurate records, recognize people, and understand written directions.
  • Ability to speak and hear sufficiently to understand, give information in person and over the telephone.
  • Fine motor skills are adequate for utilizing hospital equipment such as electric clippers, syringes, radiology equipment, laboratory equipment, computers, etc.

  • Licensed Veterinary Technician- CVT, LVT, RVT (preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Manage workflow
  • Manage associate schedules and call-outs
  • Work cohesively with hospital management and supervisory teams to aid in the progression of the hospital
  • Conduct interviews for potential new hires
  • Assist in the educational development of technicians and their skills
  • Schedule and conduct team meetings
  • Provide opportunities for staff to gain more hands-on experience
  • Mentor and train technicians within the department
  • Resolve conflicts in a professional and humble manner
  • Deliver quarterly associate performance feedback
  • Monitor day-to-day activities and engage with support staff
  • Maintain, refine, and implement protocols
  • Ensure that VCA policies, guidelines, and recommendations are followed by all technical associates.
