Requirements
- Experienced Emergency Veterinary Technician
- Ability to calculate basic medical math.
- Ability to compassionately, calmly, and gently approach and handle patients.
- Understanding of the classification of commonly used medications, associated side effects and appropriately monitors therapeutic response.
- Ability to administer medications via appropriate routes and duration.
- Ability to perform phlebotomy.
- Ability to place a peripheral intravenous catheter in the cephalic vein.
- Ability to alert Veterinarian if the patient's status changes and/or physical exam or monitoring parameters are outside of normal ranges.
- Ability to perform physical exams; accurately count heart, pulse rate, capillary refill time, mucous membranes, temperature, respiratory rate, and effort.
- Ability to intubate patients under the direction of a Level II technician or higher.
- Ability to support Veterinarian and client through the euthanasia process.
- Ability to read and follow orders written on the treatment sheet accurately and promptly.
