Emergency Veterinary Technician
About The Position
Eastern Carolina Veterinary Medical Center (ECVMC) is a 24/7 emergency and specialty hospital seeking an experienced Veterinary Technician to join our Emergency team. You'll work hands-on with emergency cases while collaborating closely with Surgery, Orthopedics, and Rehabilitation services in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment. This role offers the opportunity to build advanced emergency and specialty medicine skills while working alongside a collaborative team. The hospital offers access to advanced medicine and technology, including: 24/7 Emergency Services, Specialty Surgery, Orthopedics, Animal Rehabilitation, CT Imaging, Digital Radiology, Ultrasound, and Comprehensive In-House Laboratory Services. Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of Veterinary Technician experience
- RVT, CVT, or LVT strongly preferred
- Strong technical skills including venipuncture and catheter placement
- Excellent communication and client service skills
- Ability to remain calm and organized in a fast-paced emergency environment
- Fluent English speaking and reading skills required
Nice To Haves
- Emergency, critical care, or specialty medicine experience preferred
Responsibilities
- Triage incoming emergency patients and support their care throughout their visit.
- Work closely with emergency veterinarians to assist with assessments, diagnostics, treatments, and procedures.
- Utilize advanced technical skills including phlebotomy, IV catheter placement, patient monitoring, and anesthesia support.
- Perform laboratory testing and process diagnostic samples.
- Administer medications and treatments.
- Maintain accurate medical records in EzyVet.
- Provide exceptional communication and education to clients regarding their pet's condition, treatment plans, and follow-up care.
- Collaborate closely with our Surgery, Orthopedics, and Rehabilitation teams to deliver outstanding patient care.

- $21.75-$28.00/hour based on experience
- $2.00/hour overnight differential
- $1.00/hour weekend differential
- $1,500 sign-on bonus for RVTs
- Up to $3,000 sign-on bonus for RVTs with advanced anesthesia experience (skills assessment required)
