Requirements

Experienced Emergency Veterinary Technician

Responsibilities

Calculate basic medical math.
Compassionately, calmly, and gently approach and handle patients.
Understand the classification of commonly used medications, associated side effects and appropriately monitors therapeutic response.
Administer medications via appropriate routes and duration.
Perform phlebotomy.
Place a peripheral intravenous catheter in the cephalic vein.
Alert Veterinarian if the patient's status changes and/or physical exam or monitoring parameters are outside of normal ranges.
Perform physical exams; accurately count heart, pulse rate, capillary refill time, mucous membranes, temperature, respiratory rate, and effort.
Intubate patients under the direction of a Level II technician or higher.
Support Veterinarian and client through the euthanasia process.
Read and follow orders written on the treatment sheet accurately and promptly.
