About The Position

East Village Animal Clinic is seeking an Experienced Veterinary Technician Assistant to join their collaborative team in New York City. This full-time role is for a professional with solid general practice experience who is confident with hands-on patient care, communicates well, and enjoys working closely with doctors, LVTs, and fellow support team members. The clinic is a full-service small animal hospital providing comprehensive medical, surgical, and dental care, equipped with an in-house laboratory, digital radiography, and digital dental radiography. They value team members who communicate, help one another, take pride in their skills, and understand that excellent patient care is a team effort.

Requirements

  • Previous veterinary hospital or general practice experience
  • Strong hands-on technical and patient-care skills
  • Confidence with venipuncture, IV catheter placement, and treatments
  • Experience supporting surgical and anesthesia cases
  • Comfortable assisting with appointments and patient care throughout the day
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Compassionate and thoughtful animal handling
  • Dependability and the ability to recognize where support is needed
  • A collaborative approach and willingness to jump in and help the team
  • A genuine commitment to providing excellent patient care

Responsibilities

  • Supporting doctors and LVTs during appointments and examinations
  • Assisting with treatments and patient nursing care
  • Venipuncture and blood sample collection
  • IV catheter placement
  • Administering medications and treatments as appropriate
  • Preparing patients and equipment for procedures
  • Assisting with surgical and anesthesia-related patient care
  • Supporting patients throughout recovery
  • Collecting and preparing laboratory samples
  • Assisting with diagnostic imaging
  • Maintaining accurate medical records
  • Communicating with pet parents and fellow team members
  • Helping maintain clean, organized, and well-prepared patient-care areas
