About The Position

East Village Animal Clinic is seeking an Experienced Veterinary Technician Assistant to join their collaborative team in New York City. This full-service small animal hospital focuses on providing comprehensive medical, surgical, and dental care to cats and dogs. The clinic is equipped with modern tools like an in-house laboratory and digital radiography. They are looking for a team member who is confident with hands-on patient care, communicates well, and enjoys working closely with doctors, licensed veterinary technicians (LVTs), and fellow support staff. The ideal candidate will be comfortable assisting in appointments, treatments, and procedures, contributing to a team that values communication, collaboration, and thoughtful patient care.

Requirements

  • Previous veterinary hospital or general practice experience
  • Strong hands-on technical and patient-care skills
  • Confidence with venipuncture, IV catheter placement, and treatments
  • Experience supporting surgical and anesthesia cases
  • Comfortable assisting with appointments and patient care throughout the day
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Compassionate and thoughtful animal handling
  • Dependability and the ability to recognize where support is needed
  • A collaborative approach and willingness to jump in and help the team
  • A genuine commitment to providing excellent patient care

Responsibilities

  • Supporting doctors and LVTs during appointments and examinations
  • Assisting with treatments and patient nursing care
  • Venipuncture and blood sample collection
  • IV catheter placement
  • Administering medications and treatments as appropriate
  • Preparing patients and equipment for procedures
  • Assisting with surgical and anesthesia-related patient care
  • Supporting patients throughout recovery
  • Collecting and preparing laboratory samples
  • Assisting with diagnostic imaging
  • Maintaining accurate medical records
  • Communicating with pet parents and fellow team members
  • Helping maintain clean, organized, and well-prepared patient-care areas
