About The Position

Middletown Animal Clinic in the Bronx is looking for an experienced Veterinary Technician Assistant to join their team. This is not an entry-level position; they are seeking someone comfortable in a veterinary hospital environment, understanding the pace of patient care, and ready to work alongside doctors and the support team. The clinic is a full-service small animal hospital equipped with an in-house laboratory, digital radiography, digital dental radiography, ultrasound, and facilities for surgery and dentistry, serving a diverse small animal caseload. They emphasize thoughtful patient care, anesthesia safety, and strong technical support, looking for a team member who wants to be an integral part of the clinic.

Requirements

  • Previous hands-on experience in a veterinary hospital
  • Comfortable working with dogs and cats in a clinical setting
  • Experienced with common veterinary treatments and patient care
  • Confident with skills such as venipuncture, laboratory work, patient restraint, and assisting with procedures
  • Comfortable in a busy hospital environment
  • Compassionate and thoughtful when handling fearful, nervous, or stressed patients
  • Dependable and able to work collaboratively with a team
  • Organized and able to shift priorities when patient needs change
  • Interested in continuing to learn and grow within veterinary medicine

Responsibilities

  • Supporting veterinarians during appointments, treatments, and procedures
  • Assisting LVTs and DVMs with surgical and dental patients
  • Venipuncture and blood collection
  • IV catheter placement
  • Running in-house laboratory testing
  • Preparing and administering medications and treatments as directed
  • Assisting with digital radiographs
  • Monitoring patients before, during, and after procedures based on experience
  • Providing compassionate restraint and patient handling
  • Supporting hospitalized and recovering patients
  • Maintaining clean, organized treatment and patient-care areas
  • Communicating and collaborating with doctors, technicians, assistants, and our client service team
